are you willing to see die,
cut down , murdered,
in the midst of growing?
How many parents
are you willing to condemn
to endless grief?
How long until you learn
that your cult of guns
is a cult of death?
To the people of the disunited
states of America:
how many, how many
in this endless, horrible
chain of death and mourning
until you act, until you break
the hold of the myths
that control your minds,
claiming that guns mean only
self-protection, independence?
How long until you break the hold
of lobbies and special interests
in favor of life for children
in their classrooms,
young people on their campuses,
human beings of all ages
going about the business
of their lives?
